My suggestion would be to finish exploring the area to the east of the fort, but I remain… concerned about the trolls. We'll have to deal with them before they cause any more harm to the locals, but are we equipped to face such creatures?
As an alternative, we could head west and loop around south, explore the outskirts of the forest.
Where we go next, for me, is linked to what we plan to do next.
If we're taking the prisoners to Fort Serenko to be hung, then learning the lie of the river and the area between the Fort and the Outpost seems like a good direction.
If we're making the prisoners swear an oath on the trunks of the Old Margreve - then exploring the forest edge seems better.
In regards to our prisonners, unless everyone prefers we deliver them to Fort Serenko for judgment, I would prefer we take them to the Old Margreve and make them swear to give up banditry. I know there is a risk in letting them live, but I think we can fight the Stag King in this manner, encouraging defection in the more relunctant bandits if they hear there is possibility of a new life for them. So my vote would go to travel to the Margreve for the oathtaking, then after returning them to the post, we return to map out the edge of the forest before venturing deeper in it's depths.
I agree we need to be better equiped to fight trolls. Perhaps if we all get composte bows we can harry any we find from afar until they fall, using our horses speed to stay ahead of them.
May Erastil give us wisdom for the times ahead.
What are our supplies like?
First thing would be to explore the temple. I assume it isn't deep, but who knows. Depending on our supplies, I'd suggest the areas to the south and east, especially the empty spaces just east and northeast of the Thorn River Ford. I have to assume to the south we're starting to draw close to the Stag Lord's fort…
I agree with the proposed plan, first explore the temple, then the 2 hexes between the fort and the temple.
After we return to Oleg's, we should start thinking about investigating the Stag Lord's lair, or at least find out more info about him.
